Just discovered: Rina Peep Toe – Super comfortable wedge

March 27th, 2011

Awarded the most comfortable shoe this winter in Atamira … the Rina Peep Toe wedge is a neat elegant fit and surprisingly ultra comfortable  for a good sized heel.
Rina has lean feminine curves that together with the lace up detailing  gives an elongated line . While the warm grey suede is a welcoming nuetral to go with many of this seasons shades. And we are sure this peep toe ankle wedge boot will get alot of wear from Autumn thru to Spring, even reaching into summer with tanned legs and shorts or pencil skirts.
Chaos & Harmony are great at mixing up juxtaposing ideas and textures like the russian military crossed with feminine styling this Winter.

We are loving Summer… and 2011

January 22nd, 2011

Summer balmy days and sunsets… we have been spoilt so far with lots of warm sunny days which makes me happy, I just love this weather in the paradise Raglan is.
The start of a new year is often intuitively a time we reflect and appreciate the bigger picture, enjoy reading the yearly horoscope preditions, 2011 is the Chinese New Year of the Rabbit bringing a more peaceful and intuitive year which I am looking forward to.
I am pretty blessed being able to work in beautiful Raglan surrounded by books, music, ideas, travel, design and fashion that I enjoy - while working around my young family’s needs.  Living the life you dream is not always easy to work out but I think the extra effort is worth it when it does all come together.
Atamira and Rata&Ruby are always evolving, this year as always I have new ideas to pursue and inspire for the coming year to bring together a fresher collection with integrity for 2011/12.
One thing I have noticed with business and fashion in particular is that you are continually looking and thinking so far in advance – which may be contributing to each year feeling like it is going faster and faster (or maybe thats just what happens as you get older).  There is much value in the ‘slow’ movement in food, shopping and lifestyle that more and more people are begining to embrace.
This year I would like to be more present in each moment, day and week like I used in my youth rather than planning so far forward to the point that time is absorbed without realising it.
So enjoy your time, 2011 is a great year. Let yourself feel part of your dream no matter how small or big  … and as in ’The Happiness Project’  try to live your perfect day every day as much as you can with eyes wide open.

Intelligent fashion by NZ design trio ‘Nyne’

November 30th, 2010

Iris tunic by NyneWe are a fan of simple quality with an twist, the kind of peices that you know will go the distance in your wardrobe and also add a little character. New Zealand design trio Nyne do this really well drawing on each of their design and business strengths to drive their solid collection each session.
Great fabrics, functional cuts that often can be worn more than one way and quality construction that is NZ made stand out in my mind when I think of Nyne with a design ethos that is slightly edgy/ dark…. intelligent fashion.
Fashion has a conflicting interest in sustainability, but a good handful of New Zealand designers are doing ‘sustainable fashion’ the best they can like Kate Sylvester and Nyne and we like that!

A Blogging way of life …

October 18th, 2010

Keeping up with cool fashion and design bloggers is a great way to get some style and ideas… globally. Stylish Bloggers are coming out of nowhere to become fashion celebrities often being seated in the front rows of shows, writing their own style books and magazine columns because in a way they are directing fashion trends by taking what they choose to their followers.
My favourite blogs are simple with great photos and individual , I love way blogging is opening up creative and unique style of everyday people that dont follow fashion but create their own version of it …. Ideas are only a click away, and you can see how easy the design and fashion industry are being influenced by these bloggers, photographers, stylists. Some that I have enjoyed discovering are … http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/       http://www.isaaclikes.com/      http://nonchalantmom.blogspot.com/

Indigo Frith Heel… stunning & timeless

October 1st, 2010

Indigo is more than just Navy, this season sees a beautifully complex shade that looks great with tans, bright summery colours and monochromatic. Most designers have picked it up in some way, we love Kathryn Wilson’s simple Frith Heel ankle boot in Indigo suede $ 396
 http://atamira.co.nz/collections/kathyrn-wilson/frith-heel-inidigo-kathryn-wilson-s10/
Suede is another trend you will see more of in the next couple of seasons as fashion heads towards a more simple, organic and possibly 70′s inspired pathway.
